SPOROCARPS: stalked or sessile sporangia or short plasmodiocarps. Scattered to gregarious up to 1.5 mm tall, appearing globose or depressed-globose, or discoid and deeply umbilicate below. 0.3 to 1.0 mm in diameter.

STALK: stout calcareous, usually fluted, white, very short and buried in the umbilicus or even lacking, but can be up to two thirds the total height of the fruiting body. Hypothallus discoid, membranous to nearly colourless to white.

PERIDIUM: membranous, slightly iridescent, transparent usually covered with a thick, white crust of stellate lime crystals that can from a reticulate surface.

COLUMELLA: white or pale, discoid or hemispherical.

CAPILLITIUM: variable the threads slender or coarse, simple or branching, colourless or pallid.

SPORES: Black in mass, dark violaceous brown by transmitted light, minutely warted or spiny. 8 to 11 µm in diameter.

PLASMODIUM: Colourless, white or yellow. HABITAT: Common, leaf litter and herbivore dung.

DISTRIBUTION: Cosmopolitan, known from Auckland, Coromandel, Dunedin, Gisborne, Nelson, Southland and Wellington.

버섯을 취미삼아 활동하면서 점균에도 관심이 많이 갔다.

우연히 인스타의 아름다운 점균 사진들을 보고 나서 부터였을까?

그때부터 관심이 쏠리기 시작하더니 이젠 해외 점균사진작가들처럼 사진을 찍어보려고 시도하고 있고,

더 나아가 점균자체에 관심이 가기 시작했다.

알아보니 이 작은 생물체는 정말 독특한 매력을 갖고 있었다.

단세포생물임에도 불구하고 굉장히 특이하고 다양한 생활사를 가지고 있다. 게다가 보라.

얼마나 작고 귀여운가?

예전부터 작고 귀엽고 알록달록한 녀석들을 좋아하던 나로써는 정말로 취향저격이 아닐 수가 없다.

하지만 어느순간 부터 이 매력적인 생물이 먼지로 불리기 시작하더니

이젠 그나마 점균에 관심있어 하는 사람들 마저 모두 먼지로 부르기 시작했다.

아니, 생물체한테 먼지라는 이름이 가당키나 한가? 

도대체 생물한테 왜 먼지라고 이름을 붙였을까. 포자를 날리는 모습이 먼지랑 비슷해 보여서?

아무리 그래도 그렇지, 먼지라는 이름은 정말 아닌것 같다.

가로등먼지, 부들먼지 등등 얼마나 어색한 이름인가?

정말 마음에 안든다. 분명 나와 뜻을 같이 하는 사람들이 있겠지.

누가됐든, 먼지라는 이름이 고착화 되기 전에 누군가 나서서 이 불합리한 작명을 다시 되돌려 놓았으면 좋겠다.

점균이라는 이름도 충분히 매력적인데 말야.

아마 점균이 먼지가 된 이유는 최근들어 균류에서 아메바로 바뀌었기에 구분을 지으려고 했지 않을까 싶다.

그럼 아메바는 먼지랑 관련이 있나?

그래도 먼지라니.. 굉장히 마음에 안들어. 

내가 아는 흙물버섯속 중에 대가 저렇게 생긴 녀석은 없었는데..
나중와서 검색해보니 국내미기록종 Coprinopsis acuminata와 매우 흡사해 보인다.
사진 열심히찍을걸.
저때 너무 피곤해서 폰카로만 찍어 후회가 남는다.
